Steve Smith, Director of Agriculture, presented the 2nd annual Red Gold Stewardship Award to Tony Rhors of Rohrs Brothers in Deshler, Ohio.  The award was presented during the 2010 Indiana State Fair.

It is nice to grow or raise something, and see it as a final product.

We have been named a Master Grower six times and have received the E. A. Reichart Award once.

What do you think about while you're on the tractor?

Many things...it is what I like the most about my time alone in the tractors.

Why or how did you get into tomato farming?

I grew up in the tomato fields and factories.

What's something important you keep in mind while planting, caring for, or harvesting your tomatoes?

To do the best that you can, but realize that a lot of it is still up to the good Lord and what He will bless us with.

From your perspective, what is the difference between a can of Red Gold and a can of tomatoes not grown here in Tomato Country?

Everyone involved, from the raising of the tomato seeds, all the way through to the final end product perform their very best.
