CANSTRUCTION CHARITY EVENT
Canstruction started as a charity event that was created by the Society for Design Administration. Today, there are currently over 70 cities participating in Canstruction. Teams of Architects, Engineers, and Students mentored by these professionals, compete to design and build giant structures made entirely from full cans of food. Canstruction has contributed millions of pounds of food to local food banks, demonstrating that they can win the fight against hunger.
Canstruction® is arguably the most unique food drive in the world. The Indianapolis competition was held at this year’s state fair and featured nine giant structures built out of Red Gold and Kroger canned food products. This event will result in a donation of nearly 34,000 pounds of food, or 25,564 meals to Gleaners Food Bank.
